Contractor Alert!!! The training, certification, and work practice requirements for the EPA Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Program (RRP), go into effect on April 22, 2010! This program applies to residential houses, apartments, and child-occupied facilities such as schools and day-care centers built before 1978. The fine for not complying with the RRP can be up to $32,500 PER VIOLATION PER DAY!!! Your firm MUST be certified with the EPA no later than April 22, 2010, and at least some of your crew must go through an 8-hour, EPA-sanctioned, lead training course. The application process can take up to 90 days, so you should file as soon as possible. Applications are available at Ithaca Paint or online. We are in the process of bringing one of the training courses to Ithaca. If you are interested in attending, please let us know via phone or e-mail as soon as possible.
